Police in Battambang Arrest Two and Confiscate Nearly 30 Motorcycles

BATTAMBANG: Two people were arrested by Battambang provincial authorities in connection to theft, as 26 motorcycles were found in their possession, all of which are suspected to have been stolen and then sold to the two arrested individuals.

Battambang Provincial Police Chief, Lt. Col. Chhoeung Kimsong, said that the police operation took place on Wednesday, 27 April, at two different target locations in Battambang City. He confirmed that a 34-year-old man living in Battambang City, and a 36-year-old woman in Pailin City were arrested in the case.

Currently, the specialized office is building a case to send the two suspects to the Battambang Provincial Court and move forward with legal proceedings.

According to Article 399 of the Cambodian Penal Code, receiving the proceeds of theft is classified as the act of receiving, concealing, storing or transmitting an object knowing that the object is from a crime or misdemeanor. The penal code also categorizes some activities as benefiting theft, such as the mediation or delivery of the objects of criminals, and receiving objects from criminals.

The two arrested individuals could face up to two to five years in prison and a fine of 4 to 10 million riel.
